Who ever said traditional marketing is dead never had a walk on Upper Street and passed through Romeu’s sugar-free bakery!
Yes, brick and mortar marketing is still a thing and this bakery has their scene put well together for the sweet tooth! The bakery name intelligently announces sugar-free and the pastries displayed at their window makes any normal human mouth water. It is more than enough to bring all your sugar-craving dreams come true.
There are a great variety of cakes, pastries, quiches and bread. They also have Gluten Free, Dairy Free but what attracts the dessert-lovers that want to sin (also “guilt free”) is the sugar-free promise.
Your challenge will be to choose which one you want to try (Or be smart and take at least a friend with you so you order more and share). I played the ignorant at this bakery, pretending that natural sugars are completely harmless to allow myself to cheat a little bit. I went for the most indulgent thing I saw: the red velvet!
Boy, it was worth it!
They make the moistest, indulgent red velvet ever even without added sugar. I’m not even exaggerating, it was indeed the best red velvet I had in a long time (although I don’t remember the last time or if I ever had one).
The cake mainly tastes like coconut and the rest of the ingredients are not that easily recognizable (but this is true to all red velvets as far as I know). There’s this homemade feeling into this cake and it even seems that something went wrong as it’s more humid in the bottom and dryer on the bottom. This clumsy sort of imperfections make this slice even more genuine and perfect to my taste buds.
Hopefully, you love coconut as I do but if you don’t, you will easily find several other options in the store.
I will go back to this place for sure!
